Hi all,

I'm the new (13th) owner of a 1997 Discovery in Atlanta, GA. I've been searching all over the forums the last few days, and have to say that after all the reading I'm a bit nervous about my purchase! I have always been a vintage VW owner, and currently have a 65 split window bus, so I'm not too worried about doing some work and always try to consider the work a hobby rather than a chore. It was fairly impulse buy, but I just loved the feel of driving it. Purchased fairly cheap from a PO who told me that half of the electronics didn't work and provided a few recent service records. I went through the fuses and now most of the electronics are working (haven't tempted fate with the sunroof yet), though there are some gremlins to work out.

Current plan is to go through the 60k major service list in next week or so, replace T stat, replace rear sunroof seal, get my radio working, get my rear door to open from the exterior, figure out why my transmission shifts so hard, and hopefully take her out camping.

Already found some great tech threads, so looking forward to some future help as I tackle the repairs and maintenance.

Thought I was doing well being number 10 in mine!

 

Build up a quick little platform bed and took her out camping this weekend down some North Georgia FS roads. Lots of fun, though the bed is just too short to spread out in.
