Just wanted to introduce myself, my name is Art and I am currently looking at purchasing in 02 Disco. I have been looking at your site for a while and want to thank you all for the info that is here! I am very capable at repairing my vehicles but wanted to ask this question. How often are you doing repair work? I am not afraid to do the repairs and I agree that it is part of the fun, but I also want to be able to drive my 4x4. What should I expect in general. Thanks in advance and I will let you all know if I bite the bullet on this Rover.

depends, and it is possible to spend too much time in the garage. Once things are in good shape, weekly inspection under the hood and maybe a Saturday a month. But miles, abuse, and your standing with the Rover gods can make that vary.

There is always something to do on an older one, something to swap out, a mod to try, etc.

I am out of Romeoville near Bolingbrook. Thanks for the invite but I will be unable to make it I did see your clubs website and it is really cool! I currently own a jeep Cherokee and want to make the move to a Land Rover. I have been going back and forth about buying a LR. Everyone tells me I am nuts that the Rovers have a bad rap. I went to look at one yesterday 2000 disco with about 123k. It looked good but had the three amigos on.The owner told me it was from changing the rear air bags to coil springs.. isthis correct? Thanks for all your guys help. Oh he was asking 4k.

IMHO - nope. Still more to fix. Maybe look at some more trucks, beat down the price, and inspection by indy Rover mechanic or dealer...
