Default Newbie in Portland

As a recent transplant from NY, I felt the need to fill my desire for adventure. I just purchased a 2001 Discovery II with 53,000 miles on it. Glad to be a part of the Land Rover experience. I have a lot of reading to do.

1st order of business will be a Baja Rack, OME lift and ARB bumper...I'll post pics soon!

Cheers,

Jason

Welcome. Please download the RAVE, which is full set of owners, workshop, and electrical manuals from the factory. Free below.

In my opinion, which isn't worth much, first order of business would be inspecting front drive shaft. It needs multiple grease fittings. If it has not been updated, it will split, and poke an unrepairable hole in transmission. Pix of how to in our tech section.

Welcome Jason, hope you've found/or had experience with Columbia Rovers, or Columbia Overland. You're lucky to have them so close!

If you're looking to get out with some local folks and/or are into Overlanding and such, check out Northwest Overland Society. Quite a few Portland and Vancouver, WA folks to get linked up with.

Thanks for the Pacific NW Overlanders link! Cool stuff. I definitely know Columbia Rovers. My Disco was looked over prior to the purchase and I live about 6 blocks away. It could be very bad for my wallet.

Cheers,

Jason
