Default please help

Hya folks,
I am new here.My name is Darrell and I am thinking of buying a Dicovery. The reason being that I am moving to Skiathos in Greece next year.I am driving over there via the French alps (meeting friends for ski-ing).We need a strong reliable 4x4 with 7 seats. Also I presume with such a well known brand that there are a number of LR dealers on the Greek mainland.
So there we have my questions. Can Land Rover meet the demands of long drive, hot and dusty in the summer and wet and muddy in the winter. We have a max of 6000 pounds.
I hope the answers are good,I have been looking at Shoguns.

I assume you are talking about a Disco III which we call the LR3 in the US. Let me give you my 2 cents after owning one for almost a year. You will not find another SUV in the same size group with more room both for cargo and for passengers. I am 6 foot 1 and I actually fit quite confortable in the third row. That alone blew my mind when I first tried it. Towing capacity is also quite high for the size. The demands you listed are exactly the kind of stuff Rovers are designed for. The LR3 eats that stuf for breakfast and still takes you to your highschool reunion in style. I can not speak for dealers in the Greek mainland, I simply have no clue there. As far as wet and muddy, remember that the factory tires on the rovers are designed mainly for highway performance. The Good Year Wrangler HP is only an "All Season" tire. If you are serious about wet and muddy, you need to get serious "All Terrain" tires as soon as possible. The Wrangler HP's DO NOT self clean mud AT ALL as I found out quite embarrasingly. I am now VERY happy with my new Good Year Silent Armors 265/60/18.
Last advice, spend the extra cash and get the V8 HSE. The V6 gets the same gas milage but looses quite a bit on HP and Torque and it sounds like you could benefit from lockers (HSE) during the winter months driving.
If you were refering to an older Discovery, then I will let someone who actually owns one give their 2 cents being that I've never owned one of the older models. However, it is still a Land Rover regardless, right?
