Default What have I gotten myself into?!

Hello! I have been reaping the benefits of all the great posts on this site for 3 weeks now and I thought it was high time that I registered. I bought a 03 Discovery with 103K miles on it from a friend for a song. So far I have replaced the connecting rod bearings and some other small stuff. This is my first LR and I have to tell ya it is like driving a comfy tank. I am looking forward to contributing as much as I can and listening a lot.

1. Check your front prop shaft for grease fittings. If it is an oem shaft it will not have them on every joint. The sealed joints can fail almost instantly, and the shaft flies apart and pokes hole in tranny. Rebuild article in our tech section, or buy an aftermarket shaft.

2. Check oil pressure with mechanical gauge. Can have a cracked oil pump, not sure if you inspected or replaced that.

3. You must have the RAVE manual set already.

4. Post pictures of your adventures - vacations, off road, or under the wrench.

5. Consider an ultra gauge to read and reset engine codes and display sensor readings, like digital coolant temp. Can not trust heat gauge, it points at 50% from about 150F to 240F, or more.

6. Welcome!
