Default '03 D2 owner, looking for next road trip vehicle

So, I've had me '03 D2 since 2005. Got it with 15k on it, and now it's up to 238k and still running strong. Minor oil leak from the oil pan, needs new power steering pump, which I have the pump and hoses for. This thing runs great and could keep going for another 100k. I. love it. I've driven PA to CA and back 6 times, PA to Florida and back 5 times, Chicago to CT maybe 30 times. I've been around with this thing. I removed the back seat of my D2 and built a deck to sleep on, and keep climbing gear and food under. I'm 6'6" and just need more space, and I don't want a van, not yet anyway.

I need more space, and a greater ability to tow. I also want parts more available and less expensive. So I'm pretty much set on a Ford F-250 6.2L gasser, assuming it's not as maintenance heavy as my D2. Gas mileage will be pretty close to my D2.

I guess my question is, anyone here with an F-250? Am I crazy to think the F250 will be cheaper to maintain than a D2? I like the F-150 as well, but getting one that's lifted like 4" with the longer bed (6.5' bed)and options I want seems to be a very difficult find, while the F-250 Lariat sport package has everything I want.

Sorry if this is inappropriate for this forum, I just figured maybe there are some ford truck owners to chime in. again, the gasoline ford, not interested in the diesel

thanks again,
Scott

DII or F250?

Don't overthink this decision..... buy one of these and you're on your way to Happy Town!

Excursion v10 4x4 it's a F250 SD with a SUV body. You might even be able to sleep in the back without loosing the middle row.

Parts prices will be higher on the 250 chassis compared to the F150.

Prices for a set of lift springs is higher than a Disco and the shocks cost more to. For a couple points of reference

thanks for the replies...

yes, it seems like the 250 is a bit more expensive than the F-150 as far as maintenance is concerned, but maybe not as expensive a rovers.

Yeah the Ford excursion looks pretty awesome too, and they were n my radar, but I don't want diesel, and kind of want something newer
