Now to set the scene. In France the authorities are control freaks, the populace needs to be told what to do and when to do it but they get belligerent even so.

So I e-mailed my French bank stating I wanted to draw €3,000 in cash and what was the procedure (I didn't want to read through 20 pages of T&C's in French to find out) but 10 hours later nothing, so I resent the e-mail.Today I receive an e-mail back stating they need 2 days notice to withdraw cash (fair enough they are a small branch of a national bank). What really annoyed me was they need all the usual identity, passport, utility bill, etc, etc (including inside leg measurement ) AND A REASON TO WITHDRAW MY OWN CASH .

So I e-mailed them back saying that was my business and for me to know and them to wonder. Again they e-mailed me saying they must have a reason on the paperwork

So I e-mailed them back stating "SEX" in large upper case and also "they don't take credit cards or cheques" .................. hmmmm, that was a real show stopper

 

I take it, you havn't heard back from them yet

 

Just go stand in the queue like the rest of the french. and be sure to put customer dividers in the grocery line or what ever they call it,, I forget.
Or tell them the money is to leave France. You will get it sooner..lol

 

Yep, they replied probably from shock and said that's fine just let them have 2 days notice. They don't like the Brit attitude and sarcasm 'cos we don't kowtow to their petty rules and stupidities. I think they see me as a Brit belligerent also and I've only been into their damn bank in person twice in 11 years as I use the online facilities. This should be an uplifting experience to be remembered
