Default Corona Virus

Please be careful and stay aware you guys, many didn't and are now 'pushing up daisies'. Life is far too short for heroics.

You stay safe too, CJ. Sounds like France is one of the countries hardest hit, as of late. Isolation sounds good right about now. I just got back from a business trip to Texas. Didn't even want to get on the plane... glad to be home.

Is it a bad and sad situation? Yes, I feel bad for anyone effected, and for the families whose loved ones have died.
However, the idiots in the media love to blow everything and anything out of proportion for a story.
This is the 5th and 6th strain of the Coronavirus, and a vaccine is in the works.
Coronavirus has killed 3k people worldwide...yet the common flu has killed 20k so far this year, and around 70k last year.
Again, a bad situation, but, hype and panic sell news stories.
Fortunately it does not seem to be the end of the world as the news would have you belive.

I also love the shock of the media that the virus is spreading world wide.
Really? No sh*t, how many people did, do, and will travel internationally, and interact with how many people, who interact with how many people.....on and on.
And did before the world became aware.

It's also a strange "coensidence" that the food market where the virus supposedly came from, you know, from eating and anteater(that they've only been eating for centuries), is a block away from China's disease research lab.
The commy country currently oppressing or eliminating every person and religeon opposing them would never create a bio weapon, or test it on their own people....
But that's all conspiracy nonsense too....gtfoh

The media is ridiculous. Scaremongering at it's best. Minimization, however, isn't helpful either.
Wash your hands regularly and don't touch your face (Yes, that means you!!)
Eat right, get your sleep and avoid the news

Someone made a couple good points to me today

1- Hong Kong protests are now not even mentioned in the media. The virus is a good way to get people out of the streets
prob the Chinese government was so embarrassed by the protesters

2- every election year a new virus comes out

I hate when people compare it to the more common flu strains, because the mortality rates are not even close. Using mortality numbers alone means nothing. The flu kills about 0.1% of those that get it. This thing is spreading at a rate almost worse than the flu and kills between 3 and 4%. This is why its a concern. By the time this is over we could easily be taking millions dead, tens of millions.

redwitekat - you verified those dates right? Because if you did not you are not better than the media it criticizes. FYI the West Nile hit the US back in 1999. Also don't forget to fit in any other "threats" in the years between.
