Discovery II Brush and Bull Bars: what do you prefer?

I intentionally excluded any aftermarket complete bumper fabrications of the like as I prefer the looks of the original bumper, combined with a decent brush bar as compliment. Now can someone please tell me about those boxy brush bars as seen on the G4 edition trucks, and the wrap around versions, they look like their made of plastic or fiberglass...... are they as brittle as they look? I don't like how they look at all either, but I'm curious about them.

Yes the G4 Challenge ones are made of ABS plastic, metal brush guards are illegal in Europe now because to many idiots texting and wearing headphones stepping off of the curb infront of a 5,000lbs brick with a huge metal brush guard and getting killed.
I had one of the OEM metal ones, great for looks, does fine in light brush and pushing shopping carts out of the way, not made for recovery use.
I hate the "A" bar.

ABS plastic? Never heard, but I dont really see the point in a plastic brush bar. Yeah I heard about the controversy over bull bars in Europe... why do you hate the A bar? Thats the kind mounted to the 2004 I'm making payments on, as seen in the first pic. I like them because they look stronger and they remind me of the push bars mounted on police interceptors!
It is a hardened plastic, stronger than normal but still plastic.
I dont like the "A" bar because it does not protect the headlamps.
But its your truck, so go with what you like.

Fair enough. I just wish they made a legit stronger A-frame push bar for the Disco that was more than just looks. I may do some research on police cruiser parts websites to see if any of those rugged police push bars are compatible with my Disco.......
Did I ever mention that having a push/brush bar is a "necessity" for me, because of my height? And that using the bar as a step ladder is the only quick way for me to access the engine bay and perform under the bonnet work? Haha I'm 5"2 so having a brush bar is a major bonus
