This was the first Longitude Expedition which took place in 1999. There were just two Series IIa Dormobiles. Terri Ann Wakeman outfitted them. Anyone who has a history of Land Rover Series models know Terri Ann and what she's done to keep the Land Rover brand going in the years between 1974 and 1987. It's funny but this website looks a lot like the original British Pacific website from the 1990's. I know Terri Ann was involved with the BP website. I'd be willing to bet she did this one too.

Welcome to Around the World 1999

If you click on the links in this website for the later Longitude Expedition, you'll get an idea of what these trucks were put through. You might also get a deeper sense of Land Rover history comparing the Series IIa and the Series II Discovery. Radically different trucks that, in the end, were still more than able to carry their passenger anywhere in the world.

I totally agree with you re: Longitude Edition it's very rare and collectible. It's also the first time I saw that ebay listing.

What I find funny is how this company is (and has been) trying to sell the other "pretty" overpriced trucks with goofy names > HOME. And in the last 5 months or so they sold zero on ebay. If you ask them a basic question on ebay like "when were the head gaskets replaced?" you get answers like "Maybe the previous owner did them".

Back to the Longitude Edition, on ebay $28,900... get it here for $12,800 less> 2003 Land Rover Discovery Veh. No. 5 "drive Around The World" Longitude Edition - Used Land Rover Discovery for sale in Houston, Texas | autoquid.com

Cheers

The Santana ad has been updated...seller wouldn't come down on the price, bottom was $19k. Sellers claims it is fully original, zero rust with 50k original miles. We recommended a reserve of $10k-$11k given the current market. They have a place in the vintage market, they're a tougher sell now though as more 90's are coming into the US.

I liken the crazed Defender market to what's going on with bourbon in this country. It's insane. Admittedly, a 90 or 110 is a thoroughly capable vehicle but in many ways it's closer to a glorified tractor than a vehicle designed for daily use under urban conditions (especially a diesel). I see CL ads here in the NY metro area all the time for 2.5TD's and 200TDI's for upwards of $60-$70K! It's like the PVW 25. The limited edition sold for $1800 a bottle but you'd be lucky to find a bottle now for under $10K. At that price you'd be a fool to drink it. Like I said, insane.

agreeing with PG ^^ ... we'll be listing on our site an '88 LR110 5-door in a couple of days, owner has two of them and looking to sell one currently. Lots of recent work on the 19J and elsewhere...he'll be asking $29.5k

I like my 110 with the Hot Rodded 3.9 under the bonnet. She will move out pretty damn good.

but yes it's a farm tractor in the end, a cool looking farm tractor though

I owned one just like this. It was an '85 four door in Derwin Blue, a blueish grey with the same cloth seat, LT77, LT230, ect. I pulled the 3.5L and dropped in a 4.0L with an Edelbrock 4 barrel with a hotter cam and Mallory dizzy. Had front and rear ARB bumpers, 12K MM winch, ARB air lockers, Brownchurch rack, ect. I loved that truck. Sadly, it rotted from the inside out. First to go was the rear body crossmember. I welded in a new one but in the process discovered just how bad the inner body had rusted.

It was a simple Range Rover that still had enough luxury to make it special. I bought it while I was restoring my Series III. It was so much fun I got rid of my Series. I just can't believe what they're asking for it.
