Engine builders.
IMO there is only one company I would trust to rebuild a Rover V8 engine, that's Turner Engineering but they are a UK based company which really doesn't help you guys in the US.

Well we know thats not true because Turner supplied me with a crate full of goodies
LMAO But I know what you mean. In my experence buying a Turner block with top hat liners and ALL the extra goodies (oil pump, front cover, water pump, head gaskets, studs, gaskets, sport camshaft etc) shipped to my mechanucs shop here in the US, was in fact cheaper than the price of US based Rover V8 suppliers of same block with same specs and parts. Most D2 owners here in the states are cheap and not thrilled with the idea of buying quality Rover parts from England. But the option is there and its affordable.
There is one shop in New England that sells remanufactured Rover V8 blocks for over $12,000 and that probably does not include the extras or labor- thats almost double the price I paid for everything shipped from Turner! Its ironic because the collective thought regarding the Discovery 1 and 2 models is "they are a dime a dozen", poor resell value yada yada yada, but yet they turn around and convince themselves that a rebuilt Rover V8 or a new galvanized frame for a D2 is worth a fortune and try to make a huge profit. Makes no sense at all.
Honestly Im getting fed up with US based venders and shops that supply for our Rovers. Parts are expenive here and quality control is less than satisfactory. Countless times Ive had to send new parts back to the vender because they sent the wrong parts and countless times the parts have been defective. The O2 sebsors, ignition wires, exhaust muffler, coolant expansion tank, brake servo booster etc. My business is gradually being redirected to the UK for all my Rover needs... The Brits appear to be more experienced with these amazing vehucles and offer compeditive prices, larger inventory of parts ands mods etc.

Few days late but I'll throw in 2 cents.
I agree with you Triar. The frame situation pisses me off. Engine rebuilders I ignore because, well they are engine rebuilders and its part of their deal to make it look like their rebuild is better than everyone else's rebuild, hence the stupid prices.
Frames on the other hand **** me off, D2 are a dime a dozen, not worth the headaches and yet still a galvanized frame is 5k, a factory frame is 9k. Meanwhile, I can go to Jeep and pay $1700 for a factory frame.
I get it, Jeep and LR aren't even in the same category when they roll off the lot, but we are talking at the youngest, a 12 year old truck (04). Come one with the crazy parts prices.....its bad enough we dont have a crazy wide selection of parts, we gotta deal with crazy prices too.!

Could not agree with you gentlemen any more if you check Turner's webs site they are always running specs on overstock.
The D2 frames are a disgrace, that fact that they gotaway with selling a 40k truck that had frames roughted in 10 years Is amazing . I just had my guy tell me that my 2k was knocking in the back. I figured watts linkage after looking at the frame it not Worth replacing the link.

Rovers Norths has several Series and Defender galvanized frames in stock- The 110 300 TDI frame cost $3,895.00. That is reasonable in my opinion. Only the 130 frames compare in price to the $5,000.00 Discovery 2 frame! There are far more Discoveries here in the states than there are Defenders, many with rusted frames. Seems like the D2 frames should be cheaper.
