Default First time with venison... and suggestions?

I had venison jerky before, and I had a sample of venison stew that someone at work brought in awhile back. I'm not a hunter, but the local store started carrying packages of 4 small venison steaks. They are about as big as say a fist, maybe an inch and a half thick?

I've never cooked it before, and there are thousands of thigns online. I was wondering if anyone here had and first hand experience with it? I'm not worried about undercooking it, but can you even cook it like a steak? I like my steaks rare... but maybe thats not the way to go with venison, I had no idea!

Found it at wegmans actually! along with smoke duck breast and a wild boar roast

I lost the venison thanks to the week and a half power outage, but went back the other day and actually found full steak cuts and picked one up.

i left it in the fridge over night in tuppaware covered in port wine with seasalt and pepper. I then grilled them outside, using heinz chili sauce on one steak, and just worchestire on the other one, coating the top side, grilling it, flippin and coating the other, then a final flip. turns out AMAZING. cooked slower then i thought after reading a few articles online, cooked just alittle quicker then steak, but i cooked it slightly longer then i normally would have a steak just to make sure. i have no problems eating steak thats literally raw in the middle haha.. this i got pink in the middle.. id say to a slightly less then medium rare. wow tender, flavorfull... one of the best steaks ive ever had im proud this will become a regular staple now for me haha. tomorrow, im going to leave the boar roast in the slow cooker while im at work!
