Hu-man 'Geek' Misanthropist Club (96 D1 Engine turns over but won't start up) cont'd
I am making some photos smaller so you can see the Landy in the west quite near the border with Utah, yesterday; shall post them shortly.
I'm in a melancholy mood this week. No one to spar with and it's supposed to snow again
I didn't get to take my walk today because I was swamped at work; I was called an 'honorary bro' again (it's getting old and so are their conversation topics) and my twin sister is driving me insane (more crazy than I already am). I swear I could spend the entire night on the phone if it was left up to the people who call me... calgon take me away..At least 'Emma' treated me well today. Well kind of. She has a little issue with getting cranky when I try to lock the doors. The driver side door lock goes up and down and up and down and up and down like it's possessed. Same door as my window issue. I'm going to have to tear into it this summer. At least there is a nice tutorial on Atlantic British.. now all I need is a pry bar
Ahhh... we have contact. I returned yesterday PM from scouting for a campsite for the little camper-trailer way out West. From Monday on I'll only have internet or phone over weekends - shall be working on a ranch about 70 miles from Craig.
Never a day without a small or sometimes not so small issue with a Landy, is it not? Is that intermittent sewing machine action of the locker tab when you drive or when you are stopped or both?
The pics will be out today..
Talk to you soon - lots to be done this morning.
Many things to smile about - make a conscious effort to see them... :-)

Good to hear from you
but you know that I have to ask.. what are you doing on a Ranch during the week that it will keep you from internet and phone access until the weekend?..... hm.. I know that you're not sitting around watching sheep and jackal
How many weeks will you be working there?
I met you today. Well not you but someone with your name
I was helping a friend this morning and his new neighbor crossed the alley and walked up to me. He held out his hand and said 'did you survive the winter? I'm Andries.. and you are?'...
I have to tell you that I've been pronouncing your name correctly since the day you told me how to say it
I smiled and shook his hand in return, commented on the long winter, told him my name and thought of the conversations we've had. It brought a little 'chuckle' to my chest as well as me wondering what you have been up to.
He drives a 'Toyoda' much like the color of your Landy.
Speaking of Landies, my door lock has been scissoring like a sewing machine only when I press the universal 'door lock button thingie' (how do you like 'them' technical terms?) on the front panel AFTER I shut her off. It only happens with the one door and after the Landy is shut down (boy, I really do need to get out my copy of the RAVE to get the terms right....). Anyway, it's just a little pestering nuisance that first occurred this week. Intermittent too. You see, all my doors are messed up - it's got to be electrical in nature. The passenger side door lock works for a few days and then decides to be fussy for five months and won't open using the fob or the 'universal door lock button thingie' and the driver side rear door lock doesn't work EVER with the fob or universal lock button. So what I do is keep the back driver side door locked all the time and manually open it when I have to; I unlock the passenger side door manually (when it won't work) and then lock the back passenger door with the lock button (kind of stupid to use it when it's only locking one door but I do it anyway). And then if THAT isn't enough, after doing all that, I lock the entire vehicle with the fob because that's the only thing that locks the driver side door and then the entire Landy is locked. Sorry you asked, aren't you?
I'm smiling... inwardly
Cake could make it better..
Safe travels wherever you may be.

It occurred to me this evening (whilst running errands) that my driver side door lock is trying to lock when I press the 'universal dash lock thingie' (when Emma is shut off) and that is why it's doing the scissor action. It never did that before, hence why I used the fob from the outside of the vehicle to auto lock the door and engage the alarm. Interesting... I wonder why the lock is trying to work now after all this time? Do they get stuck or do you think it's electrical?
I realize that you're busy - just thought I'd add that little tidbit to the round table. Cake is waiting for you...

Be careful - sounds like the real ladies' man type... Then again he may simply be as kind and kind-hearted and good-mannered and sincere as I am. Still, be careful -with a name like that there is French as well as old Swedish blood in those veins.
No doubt your door locking actuator problem is electrical. Did Singer or whoever else make sewing machines supply some electronic PC boards to Landrover USA?
I am imagining Renee entering the driver's station from the rear door. At the last obstacle do you go hands first or feet first?
Vehicle electrical systems is my admitted weak point. There will be a relay (eletro-magnetic) switch which controls the current to the locking mechanism. It may get an intermittent signal from the dash actuator.
Does the system work normally when you lock the master door from outside with the key?
As a test for yourself and for my thinking faculty - after getting out, push the driver's door lock tab down to "lock", then close the door and tell me what happens.
During the week I am going to erect new fences and re-erect old fences and prepare and seed alfalfa fields and check on the migration of elk and mule deer and weekends I am driving back to the little hamlet of Craig to eat and read your clever missives on this forum. There is nothing out there but beautiful canyons and ancient structures and quiet.

Does that mean that you're a ladies' man Andries?

Heading to bed - will write more tomorrow..
