Land rover books?
Hello, I'm a senior in high school and have been told that I must read a book written by a British author. Being a smart@ss I brought my factory service manual to class and proceed to read how replace a worn timing belt. The teacher however didn't find as funny as I did and told me I must get a "real book". I figure there must be a book or two written by an British adventure. Can anyone recommend a good read?
Lol, I just saw your reply to LeakyDisco on the "how old are you" thread. Perfect. Ford Perfect even. Choose Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglass Adams. He's British. That's the book I chose my senior year for some kind of reading/writing class
C S Forester (Horatio Hornblower - naval officer in the best British tradition)
Rudyard Kipling (tales of British imperial colonial days )
Ian Fleming (Bond - James Bond)
Winston Churchill (The Second World War, Volume 2: Their Finest Hour ) a six volume set, he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1953 for this.
Not sure which one of these teacher may want, but you don't have to search long for British authors. After all, they invented "English"....
