Bought a pristine 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland edition with 4.7 HO engine and 72000 miles. Had it nine whole days before being side-swiped by a clunker Taurus driven by a fine upstanding female in PJ bottoms, flip flops, and torn T shirt. At 4:30PM in rush hour traffic. And she refused to wait on police and drove off with her cardboard "tag applied for showing". Multiple calls to 911 did not catch her.

Jeep in body shop with $2700 damages (un-insured motorist), and erratic electronics (more damage). Once it is returned from shop it will become the college car for offspring.

Frankenstein (D1 brought back to life with parts from the dead ones) will become my daily driver. My last Mercedes 300TE has gone to the boneyard.

Meanwhile wifey's VW Routan was not getting enough attention and decided to tear the center out of the flex plate 15,000 miles after warranty expired. $27 part and $$$ to remove tranny to replace.

I wonder if the tranny issue is because the Routan is a Dodge? Dodges are known for having sub-par transmissions.

 

Sucks about the jeep glad you guys are OK though. What is it with the moderators on hear owning a Land Rover and a jeep?

 

I got rid of the Jeeps, got worse habit........and I'm not a Mod......
