Yeah, but it's probably been rebuilt at least once.

Yep, S. Buzz. Great recommendation!

I can drive my Discovery to see that Discovery ; it wasn't there in 2005.

From outside the main Smithsonian Air & Space Museum (which is free admission as with all Smithsonian museums and the National Zoo) on the National Mall in D.C., there's a bus shuttle that runs to the Dulles museum hangar housing the Discovery Space Shuttle. Dulles hangar is amazing! An on-site Discovery w/record-breaking mileage is another good reason to go back there .

Only suggestion is go early to have as much time as possible. It takes all day. Plus, hangar floor is very hard concrete. Wear comfortable walking shoes. The exhibits and aircraft are huge...beyond belief. Nothing else like it .

Spends most of the time just flying along, so that would be true. And to keep it company you have a Blackbird, the Enola Gay, and a couple of hundred other craft. If you park at the museum there is a modest parking fee.

Great place! People can go up in the old Control Tower and watch the air traffic come and go.
