I believe this is purely a political 'tit for tat' law being as europe makes it difficult, if not impossible, to import and register vehicles from the USA and far east and the French bureaucracy being worst of all.

 

If it passes I can finally import a 1999 Renault Megane convertible or a Citroen C5.
