Default Possible RWD?!

Hello,
I just recently came across a warning label for instructions for use of a Land Rover with a CDL on a 2 wheel Dyno. The instructions were loosely saying “engage the CDL and disconnect the drive shaft to the stationary axle”... I had the thought if this is the technique used on the dyno could I remove my front driveshaft and use the CDL for a RWD disco on the street?
Im wondering if anyone has tried this yet before I go and grenade a transfer case

Plenty of folks have done it. Fairly common practice when diagnosing a bad front shaft. I did it for an entire summer.
