Default question rover B.O.P

has anyone check the rover bell housing pattern against that of a BOP (buick ,olds, pontiac?
the reason i ask is Buick cast the sleeves into the 215-300 block and did not press them in after.
Im wondering if it is a better casing, seems the tr8 and MGBv8 guy use them with no problem

sorry, no idea....
but curious whatcha thinking? build your own swap?
215 was all aluminum...300 not. ideally 215 block with 300 heads. pre iron 300 heads are an upgrade in flow over rv8

no, i've done the mix and match all that does is make your machinist richer.
you would not believe what it cost me to put a 427 crank into a 428 block,
a quick extra 26 cu in drop in my *** cost a ton.

im just wondering if a .30 over 215 or 300 would be a stronger base to begin with. these guys with tr7,8 and mgbv8 seem to kick the heck out of them and they keep running, blowers, turbos they take it.

also if they still use the BOP pattern then an engine swap would be easier using a BOP motor than adapting a Chevy.

to answer my own question i guess Buick 215, 300, 340 and early 350 were all the same bell-hosing pattern, same as rover.
so speaking if you were going to do an engine swap, a swap to a buick 340/350v8 should be a bolt-in, leaving the only problems being the flywheel / converted ? no?
eliminating the need for special adapter plates and special motor mounts? no?

correction the 215 is the only bolt pattern that fits land rover, the 300, 340 and 350 IS a b.o.p pattern. So while you can use 300 and 340 internals you still need a 215 block.

I was about to tell you only the 215 but you found it yourself.

There is a lot you can do with performance building the 215 but it's going to cost you from what I've seen following some of the MGB builds.

Also 340 heads are larger valves and higher rating on spring. Direct fit, so this is great and less expensive than machining heads when you stick in that wild cam.
