Doesn’t turning it off overnight kind of defeat the purpose though lol.
When camping at a fixed site tend to leave the cooler at camp so I would need another plan for powering it then.
Been doing more and more reading just wish there was more real world use reports
No, it still stays at 4c or lower in the back of my disco. The only time i take the fridge out is when we take our camper trailer and i connect it to its 145AH AGM.
When I set up the whole kitchen it comes out with the rest of that gear so its one less thing in the way.
Thinking of the travel trailer I frequently load the cooler at the house and put it in the trailer. Than load the food in the trailer fridge hours later when it has chilled so that would be another problem for the fridge.
Really think the cooler is the right answer for my use
Supposedly my Magellan will hold ice for 5 days but that doesn’t seem to be accurate. I was hoping some folks were using yeti, rtic, or pelican so I could get some real world reports.
@ArmyRover I have a 5 day ice cooler that will hold ice that long - IF it is around 70%+ full. I use block ice, 2 or 3 blocks depending on how much stuff I have. Then I toss one of those foil windshield shades on top, so far in two trips it has worked ok.

I ran a Rtic 65 for awhile. My testing was days at a time in the desert. Longest I went was 8 in a row. During that time I froze 6 half gallon containers of water (the square paperish milk carton kind) and lined the bottom of the cooler. Put in all my stuff then filled the gaps with pack ice.
About 4 days into the trip we went into a town to resupply. Those containers were still very good. However the pack ice melted all to ****. So I pulled every thing and re did it all w new ice. Lasted the rest of the trip.
Also....after 6 months of research I finally make the switch to a fridge. I bought a National Luna 52. After measurements were taken of my ice containers....and rough estimates of the pack ice..I think I actually gained room.
This thing is an absolute game changer. It's amazing compared to a regular cooler.
