Default injector options for Classics, Di and Gems P38

Wanted to show some fuel injectors that will work in a Classic, DI and Gems P38. These are Bosch "long body" injectors and are all 4 nozzle injectors with the exception of one which is 12 nozzle. For reference I am also including a Thor fuel injector as some are not familiar with the difference.

Top of image is the Ford EV1 connector which I think is better than what classics/DI's have and the EV6 connector on the right.

From left to right in the image
Stock Thor Bosch Green 4 nozzle 18 lb "standard body" injector #0280155787 EV1
Bosch Dark OD Green 4 nozzle 25lb "long body" injector #0280155805 EV6
Bosch Black 12 nozzle 25lb "long body" injector #0280158286 EV6
Bosch Orange 4 nozzle 20lb " long body" injector #0280155917 EV6
Bosch Yellow Top "long body" fat 20lb injector #0280150943 EV1 (pictured w/o spacer and pintle cap).

The Thor engined Late P38 and DII use the shorter standard body injector as the fuel rail sits closer to the intake manifold due to the intake/throttle body design. You cannot use a standard body injector on a classic or DI unless you cut and bend the fuel rail mounting tabs at a higher point thus lowering the rail. You can also not use a long body injector on a DII or late P38 as you can't raise the fuel rail high enough. The GEMS P38, RRC, DI, DII, Thor P38 and the injectors pictured all use the same size O rings.

All injectors pictured have the slot for the retainer clip. The 12 nozzle injector is pictured with the Ford/Mazda style retainer attached which holds the injector noticeably tighter into the fuel rail than ours do and more securely as it has a tab inside each "wing" that presses against the flare on the fuel rail "Bell" the injector inserts into preventing it from being pushed out of the rail.

The OD Green 25lb injector can be found on Lincoln Navigators.
The Black 12 nozzle 25lb injector can be found on 2010 to 2013 Mazda 3, Mazda 6, Mazda CX7 and Ford Fusions with the 2.4L 4 cyl engine.
Orange 20lb injector was on Triton V10's
Yellow Top fat body can be found on just about every Ford F150, 250, Expedition, Excursion and V8 Explorer. I'm sure there are more applications for each, these just happen to be my go to's.

I'm running the 25lb, 12 nozzle injectors on my classic using my 4.2 intake manifold and timing cover on a Thor 4.6l long block and it's running fine. Idled fine at first start up after swapping them in. Noticable improved throttle response and holds speed and gear better than before. With these injectors I'm running 2250 RPM at 65mph with 34" Tires on stock axles. 2500 rpm at 75mph which is lower RPM than it was with the stock Lucas injectors which I believe are 14 or 16 pound.I cut off the EV1's and spliced in the EV6's on my classic.

I do have two sets of the fat body 20lb yellow black injectors, one set of 20lb skinny orange, one set of OD Green 25lb and one set of black 12 nozzle 25lb injectors on hand. $50 plus shipping per set, your choice. EV6 or Ford style EV1 connectors $10/set or you can source adapters online.

Injectors are cleaned and verified working but I don't have flow matching equipment however a set of 8 will always be from the same vehicle except 12 nozzle, and not "mix and match". You would have to get your own O-rings/pintle caps.

PM if interested.

Hello,
very interesting discussion about injectors!!!
in your 4.6 you have injection 14cux (from 4.2 v8 rover) and use all intake manifold of 4.2, true? do you use injectors rail from 4.2 with Bosch Black 12 nozzle 25lb "long body" injector #0280158286 EV6?
how did you install "long body" in the same space where there were "short body" injectors? the injector connectors about 4.2 is different, you change connectors with the same of injectors "long body"?
do you have photo?
Sorry for my very bad english, i'm italian and i don't speak english very well
thank's for all

Where is a pic of a RRC/DI fuel injector next to a couple in the above pic. Left to right are the stock 19# single nozzle Lucas injector off my RRC, 20# yellow/black fat body 20# 4 nozzle injector, orange 20# 4 nozzle gen III injector. They are the same length and can be swapped into the RRC, DI and EARLY P38 fuel rail as they all use the "bread pan" intake/throttle body. The DII/ late P38 use the standard body injector as in the first pic. The fuel rail height would have to be modified to use the standard length injectors in the RRC/DI/early P38 as the fuel rail is too high and the fuel rail is too low to use the long body injectors in the DII/late P38.
