I have not even picked up my RRC (EAS) yet, but while I'm waiting, I'm thinking about some upgrading that I could do.

I own a Disco 2 (stock), and an old Chevy Suburban (with the G80 'positraction' or 'limited slip' rear diff).
The LSD is pretty amazing off road an probably suits my needs for off-roading, so I'm looking to duplicate something like that.

The goal is to build a capable camping rig, with the occasional challenging trail.
Daily driver.
California so snow is only once or twice per year.
Likely not to exceed 33" tires.

I feel like a air locker is probably overkill and that a ATB or LSD is right.
Since the RRC does not have a locking Center diff, what's the right call here?
What have you done that you are happy with?

 

The borg warner has a LSD in it so it locks on it's own...until it fails ha and if it does put in a LT230. My honest opinion is if you're opening up the diffs just do ashcroft air lockers. Cheapest option absolutely not but the select ability is so nice. I have a detroit in the rear of my classic and I'm not a huge fan. I absolutely despise LSD's in a wheeling rig. Too much unknown and wheel spin as to when they might feel like working. Wheel spin is the how things break as we all know and if you need things to spin in order for them to all of a sudden "lock" seems like unnecessary shock loading to me. Either leave em alone or go air plus then you can set up an onboard air compressor for airing back up (high output single ARB compressor is the ticket) which is always nice.

 

and depeding on the year of the RRC it may have 10spline axles/diffs which will need to be swapped to 24 spline as no one makes traction aids with the 10spline stuff.
