Default 2007 L322 - air suspension issue

The previous owner had replaced the rear air springs with coils and then left the front bags on, but had disconnected the air lines and put in manual fill valves. I replaced everything and put it back to stock-- new bags, valves, height sensors, etc. When you start the car, the vehicle does not lift or level out (there is a small air leak that I still need to take care of). If you press the lift or lower buttons it will do what it's supposed to-- either lower, level out at access height, or go to off-road mode. What would make it not automatically lift up and adjust when you start the vehicle? We do not have a Land Rover shop around here and I do not own a code reader at this time. I know that it could be a lot of things, but what are some more common ones? I will say that if I go over bumps and the lot, the vehicle does react to them as-designed so I know the height sensors are working.
