Default Lifting points on L322

Guys, just bought a 2004 L322, got it for a good price due to the engine not running. Timing chain broke or jumped time with prior owner. Anyway, I’ve got it in my shop and being new to the Land Rovers, I’m wondering where are the recommended lift points. The air bags are all deflated as well, so not super easy to see underneath- front looks like I could lift on the frame near the lower control arm rear connection points. Rear, covered in plastic underneath- can I lift on the round can like structures just inbound of the front of the rear tires? I have an asymmetrical lift (Rotary Brand, 10k lb) and several options for the lifting pads on it’s arms. Let me know guys, ready to get after this motor, but I don’t want to goof things up lifting it!

Also, is there a “access mode” for the suspension I need to go into before lifting? I know newer models have this.

thanks guys, Clay

Just lift it. The air suspension won't mind. On the bottom you'll see the black squares for lifting.

Thanks for the reply! I’m aware of the black square areas for lifting with the jack which is with the spare tire, but the little black surround is plastic. It’s only a hard point down in there. I don’t have pads that little on my lift. I’m looking at it now, I’ll figure it out. Worst case, I’ll start lifting there and go slow, see what happens. Thanks again, good to know the air suspension will be cool with hanging.

take care, Clay

Okay got it lifted. Used the connection between the front sub-frame and main frame up front. Very stable there. For the rear, I just went for it on the little squares and they pushed up slightly but seem to be good.

On another note, Trans pan is covered in oil - very dirty so hard to tell if it’s trans oil or engine oil. Active leak somewhere.

Tons of questions after looking at the engine from underneath. The front drive axles go right through what I think is the oil pan (upper). So for the timing chain repair, what a mess to get this off! My understanding is that the M62 tú has a few bolts for the timing cover inside the oil pan - so this has to come off.

I’m wondering now if this would all be easier to bite the bullet and drop the entire front sub-frame - Engine trans and all. Out from under the Rover, then do everything from there???

You guys know of any videos on this? Gonna look myself. Boy, no wonder no one wants to fix these...
