TD6 Limp Mode
Hello everyone,
I have a 2002 L322 TD6(180,00km) , I bought it about a year ago, about 1 month after buying it I noticed on start up it won't go over 40km/h for the first 30 seconds. I plugged it in and said low fuel rail pressure, so I changed the fuel pressure switch, still same thing. I kept driving and just put up with the initial 30 second limp mode (no faults on dash). After a month or so I was driving down the road and I stopped for a coffee, got back into the car and it wouldn't start, I found out the low pressure fuel pump was faulty and I hit it with a hammer and got it going again. Still had the same problem even after replacing the low pressure fuel pump with a new one, so I decided to get a recon'd high pressure fuel pump, still the same, then one day the car cut out again, and I found the lift pump in the fuel tank was faulty. So, so far I have changed the lift pump, low pressure fuel pump, high pressure fuel pump and also the fuel pressure switch.
After car start up, cold or hot, it wont go over 2k revs for roughly the first 30 seconds, or go over 40km/h, foot is on the floor but the revs won't go over 2k, then all of a sudden powers up, after this first 30 seconds the car drives great with full power and no problems.
This has been going on for too long now and I'm desperate for answers, if anyone has experience in this please comment on this !
