2015 V8 Supercharged Question
For those with the V8 motor in their L405 what is the issue with the timing chain and water pump on these engines. Is that something that needs to be changed at a certain mileage or time? How does one check if it needs to be replaced before it blows the engine? 2015 Autobiography with 56k miles. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Not sure on the L405, however My 2011 LR4 w/5.0 V8 had timing chain issue. It finally gave in at 140K. most people during that time frame (~2011) recommended to change the timing chain around 85k. the issue with my year was that the tensioner guides were plastic and would wear out (from what I was told). and once that happened, it was over. which is exactly what happened to mine. the fix was to install the newer chain kit with "newer" tensioner guides (metal or different material) and you were back in business for a considerable amount of time.
seems like LR has had issues with timing chains in past but several fixes have been made to mitigate this in newer models with 5.0 V8. people tell me I was lucky to get 140K before it went bad. so I took the gamble. To replace on my truck was like $7.5K and im pretty sure I bent the valves too (zero tolerance) so I sold it as is to an enthusiast who fixes these all the time and have moved on. Good Luck, as I am researching the L405 supercharged model issues also.
