Connectivity for 2015 RR Supercharged
I just purchased my 2015 Range Rover Supercharged and I'm trying to figure out how this beast talks to the world for InControl Remote. I saw the original sticker on the car, which included four years of InControl Remote & Protect, so I think it must have some way of communicating to the outside world.
The Owner's Manual talks about on-board WiFi, which clearly requires a SIM card. The manual says the SIM card is located behind the driver's side fascia, but I can't find anything, even after removing the black plastic panel above the driver's footwell.
Is it possible that the car uses something other than a cellular SIM for InControl Remote & Protect (emergency calls, vehicle location, InControl app connectivity), and the SIM is only used for on-board WiFi (an option, perhaps, not on my vehicle)? If so, is there any way to get basic InControl app connectivity without subscribing through Land Rover? There's so few features (remotely view fuel levels?? seriously??), that the only value for me would be flashing the lights in a large parking lot, and I'm not willing to shell out significant money to use that feature a few times per year.
If it uses the SIM for everything, where is the stupid thing??
Thanks,
Doug
