Transmission staying in 1st/2nd gear & not changing up
Hello,
First post. Issue with 2013 Vogue Autobiography Supercharged V8 petrol. UK based.
Inconsistent fault where sometimes the transmission doesn't want to change out of 1st and 2nd gears. If I accelerate to try and get it to bump up it just goes up in revs. Eventually when it finally gets into 3rd it then rapidly kicks into 4th, 5th etc and starts driving normally. When it is in the above fault mode it 'lurches' forward from a standing stop in 1st gear, gets up to 3,000 revs or so before going into 2nd then eventually into 3rd and then normal.
I have found that it can be driving normally and smoothly but then two instances seem to set it off:
But then again I can be driving normally in a street ticking over in 3rd and it will without warning drop down to 2nd doing 2 or 3,000 revs.
I can use the paddles to change up but if I then go back to D it kicks down again.
Local RR specialist tried changing oil and filter but fault remains.
Help greatly appreciated.
Gordon.

I have found that it can be driving normally and smoothly but then two instances seem to set it off:
- driving down a gentle slope (causes it to drop into 1st or 2nd then starting acting like above)
- speed bumps (sets it off and it stays in 1st and 2nd)
But then again I can be driving normally in a street ticking over in 3rd and it will without warning drop down to 2nd doing 2 or 3,000 revs.

Have you cleared the fault from the ECU? Also- it sounds like a transmission control module problem- and could be faulty hardware, wiring short, or a loose connector harness. Check the voltage reading on your auxiliary battery- as when they start to go bad- they cause all kinds of faults and problems with individual CPU modules. The aux battery should have at least 11 volts when the car is turned off- and anything less than that is indicative of a failing battery. When my aux battery starting dying- I would get random gear box faults and it would automatically go into dynamic paddle shift mode instead of sport-auto every time I would put the dial in "S" mode. I have had no random faults since I replaced the aux battery... One suggestion...
