Default 1996 P38 vibrations/wobble

My rover has this slight lump or limp feeling at crawling speed, as if I had a small chunk taken out of one of the tires, and at high speeds at like 65-70+ I get fairly bad vibration in the seats and floor. And the steering wheel as well just not as bad. It seems like most of the vibrations are in the rear, driver side, passenger seat. I looked it up on forums and what not and found lots of different things to check and replace but when I got under the car to check it out I found that I have adjustable metal spring spacers in the two rear spring but not the two front ones. The driver side spacer looks super bent and like it’s been shifting while I drive. The passenger side spacer looks perfect, no scratch marks around the spring and it’s straight up and down. Are those spacers necessary? Can I just take them both out? Or should I replace them ?

I hope you are aware that that isn't stock... Stock would be airbags. Lots of people replace them with springs rather than properly maintain the airbags. Looks to be a cheap way to "fix" sagging springs.

I don't know if that could lead to your vibration, but... IT AIN'T RIGHT!!!

Maybe someone else has seen that before and has an answer but not knowing I would proceed with replacing those springs with new ones and forget about that "modification."

It's and easy job to DIY and then see if you still have the vibration.

Ok thank you, I did know that it was a spring conversion but I’ve never seen spacers like that before. They are definitely cheap but I took them off and it feels like the ride is a tiny bit better but the vibration is still there. I haven’t gotten new springs yet but I’ll add that to the to do list haha from what I’ve read there are many many things that cause vibrations like this. You have any pointers or suggestions??

Off the top of my head, just because of those spacers, I would check the torque on the drive shaft bolts and the parking brake drum, the Ujoint, fluid level in rear diff and TC, and the condition of the rotoflex. Visually inspect shock mount bolts and bushings and the condition of the shocks themselves.

As for the "lumpy" vibration not sure that would be suspension related... Possibly drivetrain related or a stuck caliper?

Sounds like you've got some deferred maintenance to sort out! Great fun!!
