Default 2002 p38 front drive shaft problems

Yesterday my Front drive shaft’s back u joint desided to break while driving down the highway, long story short I now have the front drive shaft off and have it home but it will not allow me to put it in park and I was wondering is that because there is no longer a front drive shaft causing this problem and is it safe to drive without a front drive shaft ?

I would limit driving it as the VC won't be happy for long running locked like that.

Also make sure to put a wheel chock in front and back of the tire so it doesn't roll away on you. Open diff with no resistance allows for rolling
