Default New P38 Owner, LR/RR Specialist Recommendations Needed

Good Morning Everyone,

I just purchased a 2001 P38 (4.6SE) with 99k miles and would like to have a trusted LR/RR go over the vehicle and make necessary repairs. The EAS was converted to coils but the infamous book for the HVAC sometimes shows up. Looking for a trusted LR/RR mechanic near Princeton, NJ. I found two (2) from a google search but after numerous calls/voicemail and emails, no response. The vehicle is out of state so I don't have an issue shipping it to a mechanic between Wisconsin and New Jersey and then shipping it to me. Just need someone that picks up the phone and knows what he/she is doing. Really do not want to bring it to my local LR dealer.

Thanks!!

Matt

Hopefully your repair budget is as high as you paid for the truck! You may have to learn how to work on these yourself though... I don't know many shops that still know about and work on these... and it isn't cheap... Due to to complex electronics and especially the HVAC system. The open book icon usually means blend motors and such. tedious but tons of info out there about these repairs.

You may be able to ignore the HVAC book symbol. I’ve had my P38 for 4 1/2 years and the book symbol appears intermittently, but the HVAC seems to work just fine.
I agree about trying to do a lot of the work and troubleshooting yourself. There are not a lot of mechs who understand P38’s.
Great vehicle choice. The P38 is my favourite vehicle I’ve ever had (I’m 62 and have had quite a number on vehicles).
