Default 2006 Sport Won't Move Out of Park

2006 Sport: The truck won't move out of park. I've read about the brake light switch, but my brake lights come on. When I initially pulled the break light fuse (after trying several other measures first) the car finallymoved eaily out of park. However after I got it home the same thing happened. I reinserted the brake light fuse, restarted, pulled it again, restarted to see if something electronically overrode it but still no dice.

Question: could it be the break light switch even though the brake lights themselves are working, or would this behavior indicate something else?

I was fearing something mechanical because we've had the issue where the shifter linkage was slipping (we free'd it up and it's shifting normal again). However when I pulled the fuse and the truck shifted out of park it was like butter, so I'm doubting it's something jammed mechanically...

Any thoughts or suggestions are much appreciated!!

I tried the trick in this video:

and applying pressure to the clip allowed the car to shift. Furthermore aftwards it seems to be shifting fine, but of course I'm afraid to drive it anywhere. Any clue what kind of issue this would suggest? Am I still looking at something electrical and I just overrode it, or does this mean the shifter trigger itself is seizing up?

EDIT: When I went back the same problem had returned, although the solution in this video works to release it. So is this a trigger issue or is something in the shifter mechanism seizing?

Really quick weird question...when you press the break pedal to move the shift lever, can you feel the neutral safety switch release in the shifter? Meaning can you feel a slight movement in the shifter when you depress the break pedal?
