I HATE the TPMS! So I solved it (kind of)
The TPMS module is not a high point of Range Rover Sport. Everyone I know has commented that it constantly faults. Even Land Rover said module has unknown issues that make it fault. Whoever designed having a limited time battery-operated thing inside a sealed tire deserves the Darwin award of design. Plus off-road designed vehicles are supposed to have variable pressures, which would nullify even the idea of a single set pressure. The system causes way more anxiety, and costs than a quick weekly look at tires. I mean who can't see when a tire on these things is getting outta pocket, without some stress light going off that MAY or NOT MAY be working. Anyways rant part over, so I did this. Researched the exact years that TPMS went from becoming an ECU option to being beyond our control. Up to and including 2012 the ECU maybe programed to think no TMPS was installed. You can tell if your TMPS does not state the PSI number, you can code the ECU you do not have system. This was revoked in 2013 models. This "trick" will work even when sensor batteries die, or module goes belly up. But has to be done with someone who can code the vehicle and let them know it can be done (most LR mechanics don't know about this right off) It costed me an half hour labor at an LR and Jag independent shop. Way better than the quoted $1000 (to start with) to replace LR specific sensors in tires, and gambling if those were the only issue with system. Sorry for the rant, and not a proper Fix-it solution, but I know many people's sensor batteries are up now and are running around with that warning light blazing. Just thought I leave this semi solution.
