Question Is my compressor OK?

Hi, Noob here. I searched all over but didn't find my answer.

Problem is the air suspension system. I used to hear the compressor kicking in when I started the RR. I let it sit a couple of months (in humid Florida) and then when I went to drive again. I got a case of the kangaroo hops. Didn't hear the compressor any more. It would slowly inflate the shocks but something just wasn't right.

I removed the compressor and took off the air dryer. It was all caked up inside and I couldn't move the metal screen in the tube. Could only get a small air flow when I blew on the small end.

Just for giggles before buying a new compressor, I hooked up just the compressor and started the car. It ran fine, just like before. Then only thing different was that no air lines were connected and the air dryer was not present.

Thoughts? Should I spring $25 for a new dryer? Will it come with the dessicant stuff?
(FYI, the stuff inside the dryer was more of a sandy stuff. Only about a half teaspoon full. I shake it and get no sound. The metal screen which touches the spring was not moveable, even with a vise and/or hammer)

Thanks in advance.

Sorry, forgot to say it is a 2006 and the system has never been messed with before.
