The title probably needs some clarification; it does not just die lias though it has run out of gas. It has only happened a few times, but generally, I will hear the blower motor change, as though it is losing power, and then the dash and nav screen will start flickering and flashing, followed by a zillion fault message, and then it will die. And when I say dead it is dead. No power at all. The first time this happened I only got the flashing etc. for a quick few seconds, and then it stopped, but when I got home and turned the car off it was completely dead. I went into the house and about 30 minutes later I noticed the headlights had come on, and I had no problems for a couple of weeks. It happened again when I stopped at a light, but it restarted in a minute or so. Today however I left the gas station, heard the blower change, drove about a mile and it started the whole process, this time it died and it did not start. I had my wife come and jumped and it started up. I threw the ID tool on it and there were a bunch of faults, and there were a number of communication faults, not surprisingly since it seems to be an electronic issue. One fault stated a short, ground fault, with the door quick/open close function.
I should add that I have never had a problem with it starting, and following the latest incident, the battery was at 12.4 volts off and at 14.8 when running.
Has anyone heard of this being an issue with this model, and if not do you think a short of the type mentioned is enough to disrupt the whole electrical system?
Thanking you in advance for your help in this matter.
