Default HSE Td6 instead of a Subaru?

Apologies in advance if the title of the thread seems snarky. I actually mean it.

I saw a 2016 with 72K on it on Bringatrailer (link below) and it was stuck around $11K with a few hours to go. It sold for much more, At $11,000 I was tempted. We are replacing our Subaru Forrester, and thought for a third of the price of a new Subaru, I could have a Range Rover. (It wound up selling for $26,500.)

But I am still tempted. I have a little history with Range Rovers, long story for another time. I do know how delightful they are to drive, even just to sit in. And 29 mpg on the diesel is pretty appealing. So I’m still considering one. Talk me out of it.

Is it a rational choice? I do see quite a few high mileage Rovers out there, so longevity is possible. Is it only possible with enormous amounts of money spent on maintenance and repairs? Do folks just not like diesels? ( I own them, am comfortable with them and like them very much.) I did see a thread on this forum about a catastrophic engine failure at low mileage, and saw a few comments from car magazines about electrical problems, especially around the dash.

What are the odds of me seeing mostly trouble free miles in a vehicle like the one on Bringatrailer - relatively low miles, good condition, apparently well maintained. Can I service it and repair it myself for the most part?

Thanks.
