Default 1984 90 To Sell. Maybe.

Hello All

I've come to this forum because I am looking to sell my 84 Land Rover 90. This is a 200 Tdi fitted vehicle with 87000 miles on it. It began life as a petrol powered (2 liter I think) I have overhauled the vehicle and it runs great. It has just passed its UK MOT test with no problems and emissions very low indeed.

I want to buy a more recent model and if there is a market for such trucks in the US I would consider exporting. I can upload pics but is export possible for such a vehicle?

It is of its age so has some character marking and if you want a showroom finish it needs a respray...

Many of our North American members will dream on, import restrictions being what they are. Don't forget many of the fine UK based sites.

Will do. However, I was told that there was a market for such older vehicles with the US, is it a real drag to export to you? I can't get much info in the UK. If anyone is looking for a straight 75 mph+ 200 Tdi that doesn't smoke, has rear bench seats and windows but does need a little rubbing over then this is it...I've been under the thing for the past six months come rain hail or shine and I am quite proud of it now. I need the space for a Td5 though...

US Customs has changed their interpretation on several key import guidelines recently. They will no longer allow vehicles with replacement engines unless it is an Identical engine to what the vehicle was produced with. Unfortunately that cuts out every 25+ year old defender with a Tdi.

That does it for me then. But I'll stick around and if anyone needs any help or advice on Defenders/200 Tdis or anything, here I am!
