Default Can't remove rear differential

I'm trying to remove the rear differential of my series 2a out of its housing. The differential moves about 1/4" only and then jams. I poked a usb camera on a long cord down the axle hole and can see the serrated nut for bearing adjustment seems to be jamming on the head of one of the bolts that hold the diff on. I've built a tool to grip the bolt and turn it slightly, but this has not helped. Winding the bolt in further (the tying wire has now broken away) causes the diff to jam sooner. I've had this diff out before without these problems. I did break and axle in it (hence the need to remove it to clear the remaining broken bits). Could something more extreme have gone wrong and this serrated nut have come loose and be too proud get past the edge of the housing? The locking tab seems to be in place. It's on the short (right) side that I can see the jamming.

OK I've come to the conclusion that the serrated nut has come unscrewed slightly. I'm going to have to make up a tool I can fit down the axle hole to screw it back up or unscrew it completely. I wonder if anyone has one handy they can measure the diameter of this nut and the diameter of the holes I am going to have to fit into with the tool I need to make.

generally you just pop the axle shafts out and the diff comes right out

With a lot o brute force and ignorance I 've finally got this out. The nut had not unscrewed but was warped somehow by shrapnel from the broken axleshaft. I had to jack the diff out with nuts and bolts and the serrated nuts have some deep scour marks in them now.
