Has anyone pulled a plastic gas tank out of an existing vehicle and retrofitted it into a Series 2a Land Rover. I'm refreshing a 1971 Series 2a. I'd like to abandon the metal tank and swap with plastic. thanks

 

You're going to need a tape measure and spend lots of time in junkyards, but I doubt you'll find anything that is even remotely similar in size and shape. If you do, you'll have to resolve sending unit incompatibilities, mounting method, etc. And all for what? Getting rid of metal that's shown to hold up for 50 years and more... for plastic? What is it you think you're going to gain? 5# of weight savings? Seems like a "solution" looking for a problem.
