Front Driveshaft Replacement - Nuts, Bolts & Procedure
Just took a peek at mine. When I re-built the front drive shaft, I bought new nuts and bolts. The bolt length matched what I took off (no telling if they were Land Rover supplied or not.) I used nylon lock nuts like yours, but the bolt sticks out about 3/16" beyond nut.
Most specs call for at least one thread showing.
......
After the nut has been tightened, make
sure the bolt or stud has at least one thread
showing past the nut.

Alright, well I'm leaving it for now. Turns out the flange on the Tom Woods is about 1/4" wider than the stock shaft. There's my missing threads. Anyone from lucky8 here who can comment?
I guess when I go to the junkyard (weekly) I will start taking off the front shaft nuts and bolts...
I just found a practically brand new front shaft at the local u-pull-it for $25. Still had a very new looking sticker on it, new bolts and nuts. I looked under the truck and there was road grime and oil everywhere, but the front shaft looked beautiful.
I picked the best looking nuts and bolts and reused them. They aren't going to break.
