Is there any downside to the larger 1515 filter? I'd like to throw one on as well next oil change.

Nope. None that I have experienced.

You can just slide the new cable in by lubing it well, broke mine last year and couldnt be arsed removing the entire cable with sheath.

After replacing a transmission (found a good used one for $275), battery, shocks, rear window (someone decided to use it for target practice), seafoamed engine, installed new driving lights..... And on and on..... I just sat there and smiled at it today. Dunno why a car can cost so much time and money and I still look at it and smile. I think I am going crazy.

The Discovery I is legendary that's why. It, along with the Defender, has conquered the world's toughest terrain.Camel Trophy made it famous and we are holding on to a little piece of history. I rarely see other D1's on the road anymore.

I hope you did have jack stands and just removed them for the pic.

I went years and years just using jacks - last month I was changing my oil pan gasket and my almost brand new jack gave out - luckily I had stuck stands under the axle but they weren't snug up to it - maybe an inch between the stands and axle.

Nothing like a 2 ton truck dropping an inch and being caught an inch above your face by jack stands to turn your drawers brown.
