Default Drive shaft tools

What size is the star looking bolt head? I just want to get that piece instead of entire set. Is that the first to be removed? Then the bolts behind it? Thanks

Front drive shaft does not have star/torx bolts. They are 9/16" for head and nuts (4 per side). The drive shaft tool from AB was useless for me, maybe because I have a Tom Woods. You need 2 or 3 styles of 9/16" box wrenches. Ratcheting heads are usually too big. Cheater bar to put over the wrench. A socket wrench only fit on the front 4 bolts for me.
I haven't touched the rear shaft yet

a 1/2-inch drive impact wrench makes all the difference in the world for removing the driveshaft nuts.

i used two socket wrenches to remove the front drive shaft. i could not get a ratchet socket to fit. don't remember the size off the top of my head, but they were metric. you will need to be able to spin the drive shaft in order to get to all the bolts on the rear most part of the front drive shaft. i just had my son help me roll the truck back a couple of inches to rotate the drive shaft enough to reach the bolts.

Buy the driveshaft tool from Lucky8. It has thin walls so it fits against the driveshaft.

X1 Abran, totally agree. I use one of these which no doubt is the same or similar, they work a dream on the driveshaft nuts and bolts.

Here is the bolt I am referring to. It could be a 12 pt but not sure exactly which can fit there.
Do you think that once those were removed, i can drop the end part of the front shaft already? Thanks

A good closed enc wrench or ratchet wrench should work. You might have to break it loose with a closed end wrench with a cheater wrench on it but it shouldn't be too bad

Yup, a 12pt combo or box end wrench should fit. 12pt 3/8 drive socket with a wobble extension might work as well.
