Default Warning Chime won't go off!!

1996 Discovery 1. I was offroading the other day and all the sudden the warning chime started going off and wouldn't shut up!!! It went off for a few minutes but then came back on. When I turn the ignition off it goes off, then when I crank it back up the chime dings 3 times then stays on. I've checked the door sensors and it doesn't seem to be a short in the shifters that I can shake out of it. Any ideas? I'm hoping to take it to an offroad park this weekend with a club but I can't take the constant beep! Can I un-solder the multi function unit speaker or will that cause a short?

Does this have anything to do with the fact that it has an intermittent no start/ no crank after it runs and gets hot? ECM bad maybe?

It may be your CDL shifter pull on the e-brake, put the car in neutral and shift the CDL forward to low then neutral center then toward the rear to high if the noise stops you may need to replace or adjust the switch on the CDL.

Thanks, I'll try that again but it didn't seem to change when I tried it last time. Any ideas on how to just disable the beeping completely?

Yep that did it. Put the trans in Neutral, pulled the t-case selector into Neutral then jammed it into High but wouldn't go all the way. Pulled the trans into Drive then was able to push t-case into High. Beeping stopped. Thank the Lord!!

Mine is doing the exact same thing, and stopped when I did what was mentioned. But, it comes back on if it isn't on high.
