I just replaced the xyz gear selector switch and noticed a pair of wires with connectors on them, while I was down there. They appear to be linked to the same harness as the xyz switch. What are they and what do they plug into?

some of the transfer boxes had overheat sensors, some did not, that could be the connectors for the overhead switch on the t-box (unused on your case)

 

I agree looks like TC Temp wiring.
