Default Paintjob Costs

Hey all, has anyone had their D1's roof repainted professionally? Mine has a few little rust spots starting right in the center, and I want to get it done soon, before it gets out of hand. Anyone have experience in how much it should reasonably cost to have their roof repainted? In the same vein, has anyone had their whole truck repainted? Mine is a pretty bland Chawton white. There are a few other stock colors I'd love to get it repainted in, but I'd like to have it done professionally.

i just had my 97 D1 roof painted! my truck has the 2 sunroofs,i pulled out one alpine window and fixed the rust [sand,jb weld, bondo] and then let a guy who's been in business here [s.fl] forever, he charged me 450 and i did pay someone to put the alpine window back in [45] cause i didn't want to mess with it [oh i also bought a new weatherstripping for window] i got lucky in that he matched my paint [which was not original] perfectly.figure on 450 if just paint [i also treated the metal with 3 different rust inhibitors!!]

Probably all depends on what kind of paint used, prep work you pay for and how detailed you want them to be. Is your D1 a survivor that you want to keep for a long time or will you be off roading? Daily driver or Sunday driver. I'm looking as well to have mine done. I expect to pay somewhere around $5k because I want a legit paint job. Is that a lot, yes. But I have a low mileage very good condition truck that I will keep for a long time. And if I ever did sell it I could easily recoup my money. Just look at BaT these days. Great for us!

$750 a panel here for primer and finish paint. That does not include rust repair , accident damage, glass R&R or mods.

I just got an estimate in Orlando to have my '99 dual sunroof Disco 1's hood and roof repainted - $795...

Wow.. I was quoted $1500 last summer for just the roof and $5k for the entire truck. The body doesn't look so bad but the roof is atrocious... am thinking about vinyl wrap or a rustoleum rattle can to ease my conscious as I ramble down the road...

Hesitant to do anything else with the place I used last year (and place where I obtained the quote) as their paint job is bubbling from a last minute mistake they made last year. Wild, obnoxious, flagrant bubbling of the worst imaginable kind....tsk tsk tsk.

How long does a wrap last?

I hear you can remove them pretty easy, but I don't know if that means they come off on their own accord.

5-7 years. YMMV.

I'm in NJ. Local reputable shops start at about $4000 and up for a full repaint. Had considered it a few years ago but the truck will just get scratched and rubbed anyway.

I sanded and rattle-canned my roof a few years back. Not perfect, but it's the best looking panel on the entire truck.

Forgive the catastrophe around the sunroofs...after silicone failed I slopped on fibre reinforced rubber roof patching and it's holding up so far, lol.
