Camshaft position sensor
i have a 2008 lr3 4.4 and am going to replace the camshaft position sensors, does anyone have a good picture of where these are located and any info if there are any tricks to changing them? Thanx!!

Yesterday the car wouldn’t start, it would turn over fine but would not fire. I had the same issue about two wks ago but it finally started. I did a diagnostic check on it and got codes for both sensors. I actually just got them changed and it started. The first few times it seemed it wasn’t getting gas but now it seems to start normal. Now I’m hopin the sensors were the actual issue and not another crazy fault that will reoccur when I least expect it.

They can be replaced without removing the intake manifold, but they're a little awkward to see and get at, being at the back of each head just inside the 'V' and below the back of the manifold. Take off the engine cover and you should be able to find them with a little effort. You should find a black plug with a red slide cover, to prevent accidental release, for each sensor just at the back of the manifold, you can then trace the wires to the sensors.

I was fitting a new Steering pump to day and remembered to photograph the camshaft sensor plugs and locations.
As I have LPG the space under my engine cover is very cramped with the additional systems related to it, so it was hard to get clear snaps.
Photo 1 shows the location of the one, on what for you is the drivers side. It's just above the yellow wire, photo 2 shows it a bit more clearly i.e. the 10mm bolt securing the black piece (sensor) to the side of the head.
The final photo shows the passenger side plug for that sides sensor, but I was unable to get a clear shot of the sensor itself.
They are awkward as I already mentioned, but you can change them without further dismantling of the manifold.

I just had this same issue.
My OBDII code reader also output cam shaft sensor as the issue...but it wasn't.
My issue is a bad ground strap.
Do yourself a favour to save money. Take jumper cables and hook one to your negative post and one to the frame of the truck. Start the truck...if it starts up fine you know you have a bad ground to the frame.
