Depending on what you do, actual off-roading or use your vehicle for a status symbol. If you stay on road i really recommend BFG All terrains, they're the best in the snow and half way decent in the mud. But, if you do more than driving in the back yard i recommend BFG Mud terrain or procomp mud terrains there pretty good. But, if your hardcore super swamper makes alot of great products. I have had great luck with bfg at's and super swamper tsl's and boggers.

A friend of mine has a 97 Disco and he is using 275-75R16 or something equivalent to 32" and he was rubbing the front fender. He got and Old Man Emu suspension and got away with it very well. My guess is that you might stay in the 31" and youll be ok. Brand? I have used while offroading and as a daily driver:

Godyear MTR
BfGoodrich M/T
Procomp M/T

IMHO the best is the Goodyear for offroading but for the BFGs are also tough to beat. I personally didn't like the procomp.

most people trim the wheel arches to fit the 32" tyres, but you have to be brave to do that..

so you can fit a 31" tire on a stock suspension? Or is that after the EMU susp lift?

245/75-16 is as big as you can go without lift. You can go bigger but when you go off road you will get major rubbing and the 245's fit nicely up into the fenders at full articulation.
