2021 Defender factory order timeline reporting
I’ll just continue to play the waiting game. Assuming at this point they’re going to give me a date for the Summer but maybe I’ll get lucky with something sooner.
Wow November must have been the sweet spot to order since your last amendment date was only two days after your order.
Should I be concerned that I still haven’t heard any build or delivery dates from my dealer after putting in an order for a 2021 P300 in early/mid January? At this point there’s no way that I still get a 2021 model right?
If you have not yet been provided a production date you are probably in the 2022 queue. First builds occur in April and expected to arrive by June.
These dates are in the order guide and may or may not take into account JLR's recently announced plan to cut production capacity by 25%.
I don’t think there’s any break in production between 21 and 22, at least. Checked yesterday and my 21 is still on track to be built this month and delivered end of May.
The 22 model timeline and that announcement came out within a couple days of each other which makes me presume it was considered but who knows these days right?
It seems like the variance in queue position must have to do with the relative placement within each dealers order allocation. I wonder if dealers ever alter a vehicle they factory ordered to meet a customers spec so that they dont have to wait as long (assuming there is time within that period). This might reflect why some people get them quicker or not? If dealers are indeed selling off every defender then they might not be incentivized to get someone who has paid a deposit a vehicle quicker .
Its looking like April just starts the my22 builds. So people like yourself who got in at the last moment get a slightly cheaper build but miss out on the larger screen.

That said, they also did have their January allocation NOT completely committed when I got in, unlike what I'm hearing up north in CO.
