Far be it for me to remove that sort of temptation... because I totally fell victim to it...

I did go with the larger screen. Not exactly sure how much time that added to the delivery date but it’s fine with me either way. What’s another month or two at this point.

Hah! I said that. Then realised I am grumpy waiting.

I am getting exactly what I think I want, though. I remind myself that the blue one I almost bought lacked a couple of things and I really didn’t want the third row seats and third climate control zone !!

Fair. And same, debated just getting one off the lot for a brief period but couldn’t find anything close to the build I was looking for (also didnt want those 3rd row seats). I’m honestly just glad I have a date finally.

My sales rep called me after their Friday meeting and said he has learned that JLR will not allow them to modify an order substantially. So in order to go from a p400 model to a p300 model it requires a completely new order. Now my debate had been moving from an HSE to either an XS or an S, he said that if I went with the XS they would just swap me into an XS they had ordered for their own inventory. I didnt quite understand why, as they are both p400 engines, but he made it seem like JLR would also not allow you to swap out of a specific model once its been ordered.

So I then asked him where that put things with regards to getting the larger screen and he said that would require an entirely new order as well, as JLR is not accepting orders for them yet. I have seen people post on here that they had delivery dates with the larger screen, so not sure where that jives. Either way its looking like I am going to get bumped back a bit depending on what I decide on.

That’s odd that your dealer said JLR isn’t accepting orders for the larger screen. My build sheet definitely has the 11.4 in touchscreen option listed in my order.

Just to add my timeline information (US/Virginia) into the mix FWIW:

2/15: Original order date (MY21 X-Dynamic HSE)
2/??: Informed that my order would be moved to MY22
3/8: Informed that my order could be submitted now - order detail dates:
  1. Last amendment possible: 4/7
  2. Build date: 5/7
  3. Delivery date: 6/25
  • I decided to make changes for MY22, including 11.4" screen and a few other minor things
  • Considered moving to XS, but without build and price configuration tool there are too many unknowns
3/9: Dealer said that all changes were fine for 6/25 delivery EXCEPT the larger screen, which will push delivery date out 2 more months
  • I updated the order to include larger screen -- what's 2 more months?
As of 3/12, I haven't heard back from dealer again yet after last update with new order detail sheet, but I'm counting on an August delivery.
Still looking forward to the MY22 build and price tool update on the US website anyway...

Thanks for sharing. Interesting that your build date and mine are the same yet the delivery date is about a month earlier.

What exterior color did you go with? I cant workout why the HSE is a better value vs the XS unless you want the lower black cladding. The XS ends up being 4k cheaper on my spreadsheet vs the HSE. I lose my preferred color as the XS does not offer Carpathian Grey. It also offers several extras, which I wasnt planning to order, but I guess do add some extra value.

The only thing I cant figure out is if you can get the walnut finisher in the XS. It says N/A in the buyers guide, but I have found several inconsistences or errors in the buyers guide for the new models so not sure why they would exclude it having extra finish option.
