Default 2021 Defender X Dynamic SE Auto Start/Stop

Hi,

Anyone else experiencing issues with their auto start stop? I purchased this car two weeks ago and have now 900 miles on it. Have not witnessed the car stop the engine at a stop and have it restart once. I believe it’s faulty. Need to take it into the dealership.

I have 7K on the clock with mine and auto stop/start has never kicked in once. Dash switch has no effect. Don’t care since I’d turn it off anyway, but I’ll get it fixed at next oil change if remember to mention it.

yep GFranklin many are experiencing the same thing. Search these forums a bit and you’ll see what I’m talking about. Long story short: there’s a fix for it but people are divided about whether to get it corrected.

Default 2021 D300 HSE Auto/Start Stop- Issue

I picked up my Defender about 10 days ago and really like it very much. I live in Panama were it is very hot most of the time: 28-31
During this time the Auto/Start Stop light would show on the dash but the engine never stopped or reduced RPM....always 1000
Today, I went to play tennis at 06:30 with the temperature at 24 C and the system suddenly began to work! Now, I have read that the outside temperature and the use of the A/C will affect the system, so it must be true. I am going to check it later when it warms up today.....this should be a very interesting situation with the dealer as my engine is NOT MHEV as far as I know from the final delivery order......

those which have it not functioning consider yourself lucky. after it causes your vehicle to stall when trying to leave a stoplight with a line of aggressive drivers behind you you'll be glad start/stop wasn't working.

i always left start/stop enabled in our jeeps (rubicons and cherokees). it just doesn't work so well in the defender. it takes longer to start up then our jeeps did. and as mentioned above the stalling issue is ridiculous and dangerous. it's happened to me multiple times now. so i make sure to always disable start/stop upon starting the vehicle up.
